It facilitates the seamless exchange of transaction data between the XStore Point of Sale (POS) system and the HotWax Commerce (HC) Order Management System (OMS).

For Steve Madden, POSLog serves as a bridge between the XStore POS system and the broader ecosystem of applications, including HC. By decoding and analyzing the POSLog data, SM can gain valuable insights into sales trends, inventory movements, and customer behavior.

XStore POSLog Broadcaster: A Key Integration Component

XStore utilizes a broadcaster approach to transmit POSLog data to other systems. This approach allows real-time or near-real-time data exchange, ensuring that HC remains up-to-date with the latest transactions occurring in physical stores.

Steve Madden's integration focuses on capturing and processing the following key POSLog events:

  • Basic Transactions: Sales of merchandise for various forms of payment.

  • Return Transactions: Processing of customer returns, including reasons for the return.

  • Send Sale Transactions: Transactions involving items shipped to off-site locations.

  • Layaway Transactions: Transactions where items are reserved for customers who make partial payments over time.

  • Special Orders: Orders for items not currently available in the store.

  • Work Orders: Labor services requested by customers, such as repairs or alterations.

  • Order Transactions (Order Broker Cloud Service): Orders fulfilled from other locations or channels, using Oracle Retail Order Broker Cloud Service.

  • Pre-Sale Transactions: Transactions for items not yet available for sale, paid in full and picked up later.

  • Hold Transactions: Items temporarily reserved for customers who plan to return and complete the purchase.

  • XCommerce Transactions: Transactions involving items pulled from a guided selling website.

Another challenge, as highlighted in previous discussions, was the potential for deadlocks when concurrent updates occurred on the same OCP entities. This was addressed by implementing SQL queries with the "NOLOCK" parameter as a temporary workaround, with the understanding that a more robust solution would be needed in the long term.
